Horn in the West's Cherokee Scene

Here are photographs of this year's popular Cherokee scene.  Besides the spectacular Fire Hoop Dance, the real life character of Nancy Ward is portrayed.  Nanye'hi (Nancy's Cherokee name) was a Cherokee "Beloved Woman", which means she was allowed to sit in councils and to make decisions, along with the chiefs.  She believed in peaceful coexistence with the European-Americans and helped her people as peace negotiator and ambassador.
